How do I log a sleep session?

Tap 'Sleep Started' when your baby falls asleep. Tap 'Sleep Ended' when they wake up. That's it.

Can I edit or delete sleep sessions?

Yes. Tap any sleep session in your history to edit the times or delete it completely.

How do I see sleep patterns?

The main screen shows recent sleep sessions. Tap 'View History' to see patterns over days and weeks with visual timelines.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Go to Settings → Export Data. You'll get a CSV file with all your sleep sessions that you can open in any spreadsheet application.

Does this work offline?

Yes, completely. Soft Signal never requires internet access.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Soft Signal requires no account, no login, and no personal information.

Will my data sync between devices?

No. Data stays on your device only. This protects your privacy but means data won't transfer if you get a new phone.

What if I get a new phone?

Export your data from Settings before switching devices. You can keep the CSV file for your records.

Is this app really free forever?

Yes. No ads, no in-app purchases, no premium features. It's completely free.

Why is it free?

Because exhausted parents shouldn't have to pay for basic tools. I built this because it should exist, not to make money.

Does this give sleep training advice?

No. Soft Signal is a neutral tracking tool. How you approach your baby's sleep is entirely up to you and your family.

Is my data private?

Completely. Your data never leaves your device. We can't see it, access it, or share it because we never receive it.

Can I log naps and nighttime sleep differently?

The app doesn't distinguish between naps and nighttime sleep. All sleep sessions are logged the same way. The timeline view helps you see natural patterns.

What if I forget to log a session?

Tap 'Add Sleep Session' to manually add any session with custom start and end times.

Can I add notes to sleep sessions?

Troubleshooting

App isn't recording my sessions

Make sure you've tapped both 'Sleep Started' and 'Sleep Ended'. Incomplete sessions aren't saved.

I can't find my exported data

The CSV file is saved to your device's Files app in the Downloads folder.

The app crashed

Something seems wrong with my data

You can edit any session by tapping it. If you notice persistent issues, please let me know: hello@matthewkerr.org

App won't open

Try restarting your device. If the problem persists, uninstall and reinstall the app. Your data is stored locally, so make sure you've exported it before reinstalling.

Data seems to be missing

Check if you're on the same device where you created the data. The app stores data locally, so it won't sync across devices.

Privacy During Support

When you contact support, I only see what you choose to share. Your sleep data (logs, patterns, and sessions) stays on your device and is never accessed during support conversations.
